One-On-One With Krystal Conrad
Capriotti’s Franchise Development Manager
If you’re interested in owning a Capriotti’s franchise, then the first person you’re most likely going to meet is Krystal Conrad. We sat down with her to talk to her about her pivotal role at Capriotti’s.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
Sure. I’ve worked in franchising for quite awhile. I have a lot of experience in managing franchise development for restaurants. I earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Nevada’s Las Vegas College of Hotel Administration. My education and tenure have made me skilled in catering, sales, retail, communication, human resources, and the hospitality industry.
What is your role at Capriotti’s?
I am the Franchise Development Manager. That means I’m the “right-hand-woman” to Bruce Evans, our Vice President of Development. I help him with strategic initiatives towards brand expansion and work as a brand ambassador. I also facilitate the sales process with prospective franchisees, so I end up really knowing those who join the Capriotti’s family, and I love that part of my job. I also support existing franchise locations and timely distribution of the FDD (Franchise Disclosure Document) to both prospective and current franchisees.
What do you like about working at Capriotti’s?
I love the family atmosphere. I started as an Administrative Assistant to Bruce Evans four years ago. That was a great way for me to get my feet wet and learn the franchising business. Now, I am responsible for pre-qualifying leads, going through the Discovery Day process, and creating and managing the execution of Franchise Agreements and Area Development Agreements. Because Capriotti’s is a family atmosphere, they like to see their employees grow professionally and personally. They put a lot of value on supporting my quest to broaden my business knowledge. And, the sandwiches are pretty awesome too!
What kinds of questions do you ask potential franchisees?
I ask potential franchisees a lot of questions because I want to make sure I’ve done my job to see if this is a good fit for both the prospective franchisee and Capriotti’s. I really try to get to know the prospective franchisees, so I ask questions about financial qualifications, their background, why their considering owning a Capriotti’s franchise, what markets they have interest in developing, and other questions of this nature. I’m trying to get an accurate snapshot.
What’s new at Capriotti’s?
So much! Capriotti’s has tons of growth potential and opportunities. It’s an exciting time to be part of Capriotti’s. We are really starting to gain traction, and the number of leads (or potential franchisees) has almost surpassed last year – and we’re just in May! We are on track to hit our goal for the year, which is 50 or more new deals. I know our growth will continue far beyond.
